Hello friends and Happy Saturday,
Today I’d like to share a mini album I created with the Tres Jolie August Cards, Tags & More kit which features the gorgeous Craft O’Clock Creative Reverie line.
With this kit you receive all the components to make your own unique album; chipboard covers, split rings, and a package of 8×8 pre-made album pages. I decided not to use the rings to bind the album this time around. Instead, just to try something different, I created an accordion binding, attached the album pages to that, and used the split rings as decor on a few of the pages.
My first step was to create collaged backgrounds on each mini album page. I gently spritzed the Bundled Sage Distress Oxide spray (from the Mixed Media kit) on the page, collaged a few papers and two 3×4 journaling cards from the collection, and added crackle paste on the edges. I then created a simple envelope for each page to hold a few tags from the 12×12 tag sheet that was included in the kit.
Then I mixed the Distress Oxide spray with water and applied a few strokes of “watercolor” under a few nooks and crannies in the composition and heat set everything. I also dry brushed a light coat of gesso randomly over all the elements.
I attached each collaged page onto the right side of the binding, and either a full page or large pocket page on the left. I did not fully decorate the left-side pages; I just added a few fussy cut elements from the ephemera sheet that was included in the kit and maybe a flower or two.
I even managed to squeeze in an image from a previous kit!
Finally, I decorated the cover. I always tend to do this last, but I save the elements I want to use first, before I even start the project. For the base of the cover I layered two papers from the collection , and covered the Melissa Frances packaging from the resins that were in the kit. The packaging is shaped like a big tag, so I thought that would make a terrific focal point.
After covering the tag I adhered a few fussy cut florals, ephemera, and florals, and wound the beautiful seam binding from the kit around as a closure. I also used three elements from the included doily sheets.
That’s it! This was one of the most relaxing projects I have ever created. I hope you like it, and if you’d like to purchase one of these lovely kits you can do so here...
Hugs,
Cris
