Hello everyone! I’d like to share a fun project with you, but first I have a confession…I’m OBSESSED with boxes! I love to make them, alter them, collect them…and I have even more fun making little books to store in them. So of course you know sooner or later I’d share my obsession as a DT project. This fun little gem here is what I refer to as an “Explosion Box With a Twist”; when you lift the lid you’ll find more boxes within the box! It’s a dream if you share my obsession…hahaha! It’s also very simple to create and not too time-consuming.
The Tres Jolie kits pair perfectly with this project because they are so versatile and work seamlessly together. For example, on the box lid shown here I used elements from all three of our June kits…
The pretty butterflies are from the Tres Jolie Cards, Tags & More kit, as are the crochet lace, tag (behind the clock face), cut-out arrow, clock face, leaves, and cute birdie on the upper right. The Darice flowers and stunning AB Studio “In the Past”papers are from the Scrapbooking kit, and the chalkboard and chipboard pieces are from the Mixed Media kit. I even used some of the cool packaging Kim includes in our kit boxes. The only element in the project that was from my stash is the gorgeous seam binding.
I LOVE combining different elements together like this and encourage those of you who subscribe to multiple Tres Jolie kits to just play when your goodies arrive – don’t be afraid to mix and match – there’s so much in each kit to play with.
I’ve linked a video below that shows this particular box in detail as well as a tutorial for those of you who would like to give this project a try. Once you make one you’ll be hooked! These little boxes are fun and addicting. You can make them as a gift, or even a card/gift combo – or turn it into a 3-D album. There are so many possibilities.
The video is about 20 minutes long but goes by pretty quickly. It’s a little choppy in spots because it’s my first one in about 2 years but you will get the gist of what to do – and I’ve included a cutting guide in the description box.
Hope you enjoy. Thanks and have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Cris
